About Sues’s Gift
At Sue’s Gift, we believe everyone deserves the best possible chance at survival, regardless of their financial or social circumstances. Our Financial Assistance Program helps individuals undergoing treatment for gynecologic cancer cover essential living expenses, easing the burden during an incredibly challenging time.
In addition, our Peer Support Program—launched with a grant from the Ovarian Cancer Research Alliance—trains survivors who are one year post-treatment to mentor those newly diagnosed with the same type of cancer. Research shows that individuals with strong emotional, social, and financial support throughout their cancer journey experience better outcomes and lower rates of PTSD.
Your generosity directly supports these vital programs, bringing hope, strength, and practical assistance to those facing gynecologic cancer in Colorado.
The Be Ovary Aware racecourse offers a scenic, flat route that winds along the beautiful Fountain Creek. This out-and-back course follows the Pikes Peak Greenway Trail and begins and ends in America the Beautiful Park, located in the heart of Downtown Colorado Springs.

Registration Crew: You know what Be Ovary Aware needs? More Cow Bell! Ring the TEAL cow bells every time you check in a survivor. The registration crew is the first point of contact for our event participants, the positive energy starts there! The registration crew meets at 6:40am for a brief training before registration begins at 7:00am. Registration crew jobs include: working the walk-up registration lines, taking payments from walk-up registrants, greeting and checking in our pre-registered and walk-up participants, chasing down specific t-shirt sizes. This is an excellent job for someone who wants to do the walk or the run or Cheerleader for the finish line.
Course Crew: Working on the course to direct the runners walkers and staffing the water stations. Job starts at 7:30am, sign in by 6:45am.
Equipment Set Up Crew: It’s kinda like being a roadie for a rock band- just not a glamorous. This crew will set up the tents, tables, chairs and connect extension cords, hang lights, and set up equipment for our fundraising team area, survivor area, vendor area and registration area. This job also involves distributing trash cans from the parking area to the event area and then collecting and returning them to the parking lot after the event. This is a fantastic job for someone who LOVES to get up EARLY! This work starts at 5:00am. It's dark, bring a head lamp if ya have one. Everything should be set up by 7:00am. Put in your VolunTeal hours early with this job and enjoy the rest of the day knowing your contribution was significant!
Vendor TEALaision Team:: This crew assists our vendors on race day. You will help them bring in their equipment and tent, table, chair. This job requires some heavy lifting and a can-do attitude. Help our support our sponsors and vendors have the best day ever.
Survivor’s Crew: Enjoy a morning with the survivors and their guests in the survivor's area. VolunTeals in this area will help with getting the tables and chairs set up, decorating the area, checking in the survivors and handing out the survivor's swag bags. We love for our survivors to feel catered to and cared for - Help us spoil them! This job starts at 6:30am.
Finish Line Cheerleaders: Cheer Peeps Wanted! We will supply the TEAL pom-poms, you supply the positive energy! Cheer on the finishers as they cross the finish line. Some folks (without pom-poms) will be distributing water bottles, granola bars and congratulations to the runners and walkers as they finish. This job starts at 8:40 at the finish line.
Tear Down Crew: The party's over but you don't wanna leave, no problem! Stick around and help us tear it all down. Remove all signs and banners, take down the tents, pack up the equipment, gather up the trash and recyclables for proper disposal and help us leave the park in better condition than we found it! This job starts around 10:00am.
